Amanda Affleck-Cruise Labour Candidate for Hook ward, Hart District Council
Labour Candidate for Hook ward, Hart District Council

Amanda’s wide-ranging experience in law, stage and schoolroom has only strengthened her outspoken beliefs in opportunity, justice and fairness for all. Her straightforward approach prioritising people and their futures make her an ideal candidate for faithfully amplifying the voices of the community.

I feel passionately about our area; we need to face up to new challenges in a post-pandemic world that priorities health, social care, education and an infrastructure that supports the desperately needed growth that will provide the jobs for our community in the future.

I lived in Hook as a child, went to Hook Junior School and to Robert May’s School. I left to work and travel and have been fortunate enough to gain wide-ranging pro-fessional experience.
I trained and worked in theatre, then studied and worked in law. I later gained further qualifications as a Drama and English teacher and have taught Drama from ages 4 to adult. I feel this widely varied experience has given me unique insight and understanding of people.
I have seen good, bad and the daily challenges everyone faces, and have a fundamental belief in justice, fairness and opportunity for all.
I loved bringing my own children up in Hook and I continue to feel deeply connected to our corner of North East Hampshire.

What has Labour done recently for Hart?

Energy and food prices are rocketing and many people will struggle, while some will be faced with the terrible choice between heating and eating. In North East Hampshire, Labour raised a petition last November (2021) which resulted in Hart Council providing £10,000 to Hart Foodbank.

Conservative-dominated Hampshire Council proposed massive cuts to health services in 2021, at a time of huge need. We in Labour campaigned through social media, and residents provided a huge response. The Tories were forced to back down on the cuts.

These achievements were from outside the Council – if we can get direct access to Council staff and other councillors, by having our own Labour councillors, we can achieve so much more.

My pledges to you

I am an empathetic person. I prioritise people. If I am elected councillor I will listen to your concerns, and I will faithfully represent your voices to my best ability because you are the community and home I value so much.

Our world is touched by international events and the security within Hook, provided by local services such as health, social care, education and housing, are paramount. I will speak up for those services.

Labour is On Your Side!

The Tories have used Covid to mask the impact of the austerity they implemented. On Thursday 5th May, we can change the course of our country, starting in our local communities.
Britain can’t afford the Tories. Prices are going through the roof and wages are going through the floor. We’ve seen the biggest drop in living standards since the 1950s. Taxes are the highest in 70 years. Britain deserves better than this. Families are £2,620 worse off. It’s time to send the Tories a message on the cost of living crisis they can’t ignore.
The more Labour voices there are in Local Government across the country, the stronger the message we send to the Conservatives that the British people deserve better.

Change starts today!

Change that Labour councils are delivering today in the toughest of circumstances.
Only Labour has a plan to tackle the Tory cost of living crisis and grow the economy. Together we can ensure that Britain does get better.
And never let us forget, while we were separated from loved ones, Boris Johnson broke his own rules and partied.

Make change happen!

Thousands of new homes in the district have put enormous pressure on roads, GP and hospital services and damaged the natural environment. New homes built WITHOUT regard for the environment: no solar panels, heat pumps or gardens large enough to attract wild birds or sufficient parking.
We want to do more but can only achieve this if we are in government. If you are sick of 12 years of Tory lies and 12 years of Tory sleaze and 12 years of Tory austerity cuts that have driven down living standards for so many whilst enriching the few, then

Vote Labour, vote for Amanda Affleck-Cruise!
